Get Vegan Tees!

GetVegan.com is a not for profit operation -- our educational mission does not involve a price tag and you are not our consumer!   Still, in the overdeveloped world in which we have come to exist, even running our website begins to have a cost (a rather high cost) associated with it.

We hope that you find the information available here helpful.  If so, and if you can afford it, we would like to offer one of our high quality, Champion 100% cotton, crew neck tees (featuring our unique Don't Get Mad, Get Vegan! logo on the front and our getvegan.com url on the sleeve) as a thank you gift for a mere $15 donation to our site.  This first batch comes in tech orange and neon green...

Please donate now and fill out the information at Paypal -- including a shipping address and what size tee you wear (L or XL only) -- and we will be glad to send you your own GetVegan.com tee right away as our way of saying thanks back.

Probable Down Time For Vegan Blog For Next Week and a Half

Sorry budding ecologists, war bloggers, and virtual radicals all -- no, I am not losing my commitment to this daily blog, nor have the powers that be put the kibosh on vegan blog operations -- I'm simply off to Miami to present at an Eco-Justice and Education conference being hosted by the University. Then, I'll be taking a couple days to travel and R&R on the side.

The blog should be back full steam ahead on March 5th.

In the meantime, let me suggest that you spend a moment browsing through the archives. I think you'll be amazed by a number of the stories in there that have been completely forgotten or sidestepped as the media moves towards coverage of WAR WAR WAR.

Speak back to power. Say NO to war...

Peace and understanding,
Richard

Moby

Vegan musician Moby correctly throws down on the Grammy awards organizers for attempting to prevent anti-war statements during the broadcast. Check out Moby's journal on his website -- click around. Moby is blogging pretty hardcore. Keep up the good work man!

Hydrogen Cars Flop

During his 2003 State of the Union address, G.W. Bush proposed spending $1.7 billion over the next five years to develop hydrogen as a replacement 'fuel' for petroleum.  On January 30, 2003, President Bush announced a US $1.7 billion FreedomCAR and Fuel Initiative that by 2020 would, "reverse America's growing dependence on foreign oil by developing the technology needed for commercially viable hydrogen-powered fuel cells - a way to power cars, trucks, homes and businesses that produces no pollution and no greenhouse gases."  Wrong. The hydrogen fuel program does not reverse the U.S.'s dependence on foreign oil. It does not reduce greenhouse gas
emissions. Nor does it reduce pollution. Why?

Rumsfeld Was On ABB Board During N Korea Nuke Deal

Donald Rumsfeld, the US secretary of defense, was on the board of technology giant ABB when it won a deal to supply North Korea with two nuclear power plants. Weapons experts say waste material from the two reactors could be used for so-called 'dirty bombs'.  The Swiss-based ABB on Friday told swissinfo that Rumsfeld was involved with the company in early 2000, when it netted a $200 million (SFr270million) contract with Pyongyang.
